Sexual
Desire Disorder- Is It All In Your
Mind?
Many women suffer from
sexual desire disorder, which is a partial or complete loss
of desire for sex. You may think, or may have
even been told, that this is all in your mind, but it’s
not. Sexual
desire disorder is a real disorder that can be caused by a
variety of things. Below, you’ll find some of
the most common causes. Once you can pinpoint your
problem, you can work on finding a treatment. So, let’s take a look at
the causes.
First, there are several
health related causes of sexual desire
disorder.
For instance, if you’ve been sick or have had surgery,
that can affect your libido. Also, certain
medications like birth control and blood pressure pills
have been known to decrease sexual desire, as well as
alcohol and illegal drugs. One of the simplest
health related causes of sexual desire disorder is
fatigue.
Being too tired on an ongoing basis can definitely take a
toll on your desire for sex.
Another cause of sexual
desire disorder in women is hormones. Your hormones play a big
part in your natural desire for sex. When your hormones change,
then that can cause some problems. There are many things that
can cause hormonal changes. For instance, pregnancy,
nursing, fertility treatments and menopause are all times
when your hormones are fluctuating. Of course, it’s also
possible for your hormones to be low without any apparent
cause, but you would need to have your doctor confirm this
before you get treatment.
Besides your health and
hormones, issues in your relationship with your partner can
lead to sexual desire disorder as well. Some of the most common
relationship problems that cause you to lose your desire for
sex are a lack of trust caused by infidelity or other
problems, unresolved conflicts and a lack of connection or
intimacy.
Anther problem is unmet sexual needs or
preferences. If
your partner isn’t meeting your needs during sex, it can
cause you to eventually lose interest in sex
altogether.
Finally, one of the last
causes of sexual desire disorder is psychological
issues. Now,
this does not mean that you have a mental illness causing
the disorder.
In fact, it could be something as small as stress brought on
by your work or problems with your self esteem that are
causing you to lose your desire for sex.
However, there are some
more serious issues as well. For instance, depression
can often be a cause and needs to be treated
quickly. Also,
if you’ve been physically or sexually abused in the past,
you may need to get treatment from a therapist for these
issues before you can begin treating the sexual desire
disorder.
As you can see, sexual
desire disorder is not all in your mind. There are many things that
can cause you to lose interest in sex. The key is to make
sure you don’t ignore the problem and get treatment as soon
as possible, whether you visit a doctor or therapist for
advice or take natural sexual enhancement
pills. You
don’t have to live with sexual desire
disorder.
